The Conference will be held in Gijón, a lively city on the north coast of Spain.
Then, what does the University of Oviedo have to do with this? And why should I fly to Asturias airport?
We understand this might be confusing, so let us explain.
Asturias is a region on the north coast of Spain. Gijón and Oviedo are two cities in Asturias. Gijón is the biggest town and Oviedo is the capital.
There is only one university in Asturias: the University of Oviedo. In spite of its name, it belongs to the region of Asturias and has buildings in four different towns: Oviedo, Gijón, Avilés and Mieres.
Also, there is only one airport in the region (Asturias Airport, code OVD), located near Avilés and about 40 minutes from Gijón by bus.
We have chosen Gijón for the Conference because there is a magnificent venue – Laboral Ciudad de la Cultura (Facultad de Comercio, Turismo y Ciencias Sociales Jovellanos) -, and because it is a perfect place to be in springtime!
